The role of innovation

The role of innovation is significantly increasing in the health and care sector and will be used more widely to benefit the patient care pathway.

We work closely with the  North West Coast Academic Health Science Network to introduce new initiatives.

Technology and digital innovation can help make types of cancers easier to identify and diagnose, whilst the innovative use of digital technology can drive efficiencies in care, improve patient outcomes and make appointments more accessible.

These new innovations don't just benefit cancer patients but can be tested and introduced to make a difference to patients’ lives across multiple conditions.

The cancer alliances actively work with the national cancer programme team on innovations such as Colon Capsule Endoscopy (CCE) and the capsule sponge test for early diagnosis of gastro-intestinal cancers.

The programme lead for transformation and innovation is Amanda Short.
