Patients, carers and public members in our communities are invited to attend the New Hospital Programme’s Transformation directorate’s upcoming 90-minute virtual workshop.

The New Hospital Programme is a joint programme by NHS England and the Department of Health and Social Care.

Several patient and public workshops will be running during 2023 and 2024 to hear about your experiences using hospital services to help improve the designs and layout of future hospitals, and ensure that those who use our hospitals are at the heart of the decisions being made.

The New Hospital Programme’s Transformation directorate is involved at every stage of the New Hospital Programme’s schemes, from early business cases, design, and construction through to operational readiness and handover. The single, national programme presents a chance to do things differently and with enthusiastic engagement we can all play a key role in transforming the way care is provided for years to come.

Maximising use of innovative digital technology and smart buildings, demand and capacity modelling will ensure services are the right size and in the right place and that the workforce has the skills to continue providing the best care.

The New Hospital Programme is working with hospital clinicians, estates teams, digital - Information and Technology and workforce colleagues, health regulators, the Royal Colleges, and other professional bodies, as well as public and patient experience groups, to ensure it creates the best designs and clinical standards for all our hospitals.

This online workshop will be in addition to any conversations you may already be having with your hospital trust.

The New Hospital Programme would like you to join the Children’s Services Workshop if you have had recent experience of:

  • Using our NHS Children’s Services
  • Having to stay at the hospital to be with a sick child
  • Multiple visits to our hospital for a child or adolescent chronic condition

At the workshop, there will be a summary and update on the New Hospital Programme. You will also be invited to share your thoughts as a user of health services. Your opinions will be taken forward for further discussion to impact the design of the new hospitals.

This is a virtual workshop and will be held online using MS Teams on Tuesday 26 September, 2023.

To help give everyone the opportunity to attend, it will be delivered as two 90-minute sessions and you can pick the one that best suits you:

  • Afternoon Session: 1pm to 2.30pm
  • Evening Session: 6pm to 7.30pm

To book your place at either session please use this link: https://forms.office.com/e/V2ECY1y96K

When you book you will be able to indicate your preferred time (afternoon or evening). You will also be able to highlight if you have any accessibility or support needs to facilitate your participation. Completing the demographic questions helps to ensure the New Hospitals Programme is working with an equality, diversity, and inclusivity lens.

You will receive a confirmation of your booking seven days before the workshop, and you will be sent the Microsoft Team link and any prior reading material where required.

If you have any questions and would like to speak to someone about the workshop or need assistance with booking, please email: nhp.clinical@nhs.net

(Please note this is not a paid activity. This is classed as a role 3 opportunity under the NHS’s  Patient Public Voice Partner Policy).
