The NHS in Lancashire and South Cumbria is encouraging people to come forward for their COVID-19 spring booster ahead of the seasonal campaign coming to a close at the end of the month.

This latest vaccination is being offered to those considered most at risk, following advice from the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation, and those eligible for the spring dose are advised that Friday 30 June is the last chance to take up the offer.

The same date is also the last chance for people who are yet to have their first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose to come forward. After this, the NHS is moving to a targeted seasonal offer for those at increased risk.

There are millions of appointments available over the next four weeks, at thousands of sites across the country, making it easier than ever to get protected.

Jane Scattergood, senior responsible officer for the Lancashire and South Cumbria COVID-19 vaccination programme, said: “More than half of the people eligible for the spring vaccine – that is over-75s and those with weakened immune systems – have taken up the offer so far, which is hugely encouraging.

“There are just four weeks now though for anyone who still hasn’t had theirs to come forward, and that also applies to people who have had only one COVID vaccine so far, or none at all. After 30 June, the offer will become more targeted, like the regular flu vaccine.

“There are lots of extra appointments available throughout June at sites across the region, so please make the most of the opportunity to protect yourself from COVID before the offer ends.”

When booking an appointment or attending a drop-in vaccination session, please make sure it has been at least three months since your last dose.

Anyone who believes they should be eligible for a vaccine but does not get invited can check online. Alternatively, they can self-declare via the National Booking Service and then speak to a clinician on site.
