In line with guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccines and Immunisations (JCVI), those who attend the van for a vaccine will receive both the COVID-19 vaccine and flu vaccine.

Carole McCann, who is leading the Lancashire and South Cumbria vaccination programme, said: “Some people are already extremely busy getting their Christmas shopping, so we wanted to make it as convenient as possible for people to get their COVID-19 and flu vaccines. The mobile vaccines bus is visiting plenty of places over the next four weeks, and we hope to see as many eligible people coming forward to get themselves protected against both of these diseases, which can be particularly prevalent at this time of year.

“All adults aged 65 years and over, as well as carers, pregnant women, health and social care staff, and others that are immunosuppressed or at risk can just turn up at the bus and get their vaccine – you don’t need to have had an invite.”
