Active into Autumn takes place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, on Monday 18 September.

Hosted by Blackpool Place Based Partnership, the event will highlight things happening all around the town and will include health and fitness activities, educational classes, volunteering and job opportunities, cost of living support and a coffee and chat.

The Partnership, launched earlier this year, aims to boost integration between health and wellbeing services, local authorities, voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise partners in the Blackpool area.

Director of health and care integration Karen Smith said: “Active into Autumn is a great chance to find out what is happening in Blackpool and what you can get involved with.

“Whether you are looking to develop your skills, looking for a new activity, or just fancy a coffee and a catch-up, there will be lots on offer – and it’s entirely free for anyone to attend.”

The health checks bus, which is run by FCMS, will also be in attendance just outside the venue, offering blood pressure, oxygen levels, weight and pulse checks, pre-diabetic and cholesterol point of care testing, and general lifestyle advice.

Dr Arif Rajpura, director of public health at Blackpool Council, said: “This event is a great chance for some local service providers to be able to come together and share information about the range of support we can provide to our residents.

“There is so much advice and help available in the area, we want to continue building on our multi-agency approach so we can share knowledge with those who may benefit.

“The event is free of charge to attend and provides a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the range of general support and services available locally, as well as specific help for those struggling with the cost of living; attendees can also get information about activities and opportunities and access NHS ‘Know Your Numbers’ health checks.

“I’d urge all local people to come along to the Active into Autumn event, even if just for a coffee, a chat and a look around – there’s so much on offer to get involved with.”

There is no need to book ahead – members of the public can just turn up any time between 4pm and 7pm at the Winter Garden’s Horseshoe Pavilion/Floral Hall. There is no need to book ahead – members of the public can just turn up any time between 4pm and 7pm at the Winter Garden’s Horseshoe Pavilion/Floral Hall.
