Chief digital officer - Asim Patel

Asim joined the ICB as chief digital officer in November 2022, having worked in the NHS for the past 14 years and focusing in the digital transformation field for some time.

In addition to his most recent role as chief digital and information officer for one of the largest trusts in the north west providing physical and mental health services, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, Asim was also the managing director for an NHS digital shared service providing IT support and services across the Cheshire and Merseyside region and beyond.

His work across such a diverse range of services, organisations and geographies has given him a real appreciation of the exciting opportunities presented by digital but also the importance of collaboration and coproduction in ensuring what is delivered is truly transformational and delivers real benefit for local communities.

Being from the region himself, Asim is committed to ensuring our health and care services are the very best they can be, and in supporting our people to live well.

Building on the digital foundations that are already in place within our region, Asim recognises the genuine opportunity to further transform the way we work, collaborate, plan, and deliver care to make a tangible difference to the lives of those living in Lancashire and South Cumbria – through the effective use of data and the innovative use of technology that empowers our professionals and enables our people to better manage their health and wellbeing.
